Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was born March 10, 1949. She is an American investor and speaker as well as consultant. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she started. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran later left the company. Corcoran was one of the original Shark Tank investors. She has appeared on every season of ABC's Shark Tank. Corcoran had signed 53 contracts as of February 2020. Her biggest deal was her $350,000 investment in Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second child of ten in an Irish-Catholic working class family. Florence Corcoran's mom, was a housewife. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father during Corcoran's early years. At times, the family relied upon free food delivery from a nearby grocery store. Corcoran remembers her father as a man who often consumed too much alcohol and treated her mother with disrespect and sneer, especially when he was drinking. Corcoran struggled in school, and eventually discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran began high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after attending a Catholic primary school. Corcoran dropped several classes during her first year, and then transferred to Leonia High School where she was a D student.
